Terms of Service

Version 1.2 · Effective August 11, 2026

The short version

  • · Sortbase organizes your AI chats. Use it for that, not to abuse it.
  • · Every new account gets a 14-day free trial, and you are not charged during it.
  • · Depending on your extension version, a card may be collected when the trial starts. If it was, cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing. If it wasn't, nothing is charged automatically – you choose whether to subscribe when the 14 days end.
  • · Once you subscribe, the plan renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel anytime from the extension.
  • · If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK, you also have a 14-day right of withdrawal on a paid subscription – a full refund, no reason needed. See section 5a.
  • · Your folders, prompts, and chats are yours. We only store what we need to sync them, and we never train AI on them.
  • · The service is provided “as-is.” We do our best, but we can't promise the underlying AI platforms never change or break.

This summary is for convenience only. The full terms below are what govern your use of Sortbase.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Sortbase LLC(“Sortbase,” “we,” “us”). They govern your use of the Sortbase browser extension, the Sortbasewebsite, and our related services (together, the “Service”). By installing, signing into, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Your privacy is covered separately by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

2. What Sortbase is

Sortbase is a browser extension that organizes your AI conversations across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok. It adds folders, a prompt library, keyword search, and one-click transfer of a conversation from one model to another. Sortbase is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, or any other AI platform.

3. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Sortbase, and old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. Sortbase is not intended for children under 13.

One account per person. Free-trial eligibility is tied to the person, not the email address, so creating additional accounts does not create additional free trials.

You sign in with an email magic link through our identity provider – there is no password to manage. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us at support@sortbase.ai if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing

Free trial

New accounts start with a 14-day free trial of the paid features, and you are not charged during the trial.

Whether a payment method is required to start the trial depends on the version of the extension you installed. If you were asked for a card when your trial began, that card is held on file and your first charge is taken automatically at the end of the 14 days; cancel before then from the extension's subscription settings and you are never billed. If you were not asked for a card, no payment method is held, nothing is charged during the 14 days, and nothing happens automatically when they end.

When your 14 days end, the paid features stop until you subscribe. Your saved folders, chats, and prompts remain available to view, search, and reorganize either way.

One free trial per person. We may decline to grant a repeat free trial, and we may limit or revoke free access we reasonably believe is being obtained abusively, including by creating multiple accounts.

Paid plan and renewal

What happens at the end of your trial depends on whether a payment method was collected when it began. If a card was collected up front, your subscription automatically converts to the paid plan at the price shown at sign-up, using the payment method on file. If no card was collected, there is no automatic conversion – your free 14 days simply end and you choose whether to subscribe.

If you subscribe during your free trial, your card is stored and your first charge is taken at the end of the 14 days. If you subscribe after your trial has ended, your first charge is taken at that time. Accounts on a longer promotional free period are charged at the end of that period instead. Either way the plan is charged at the price shown at checkout.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize Sortbase LLC to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

How to cancel

You can cancel anytime from the subscription settings inside the extension. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period – you keep paid access until then, and you won't be charged again. We may also offer cancellation through our payment processor, Stripe.

Price changes

We may change the subscription price. If we do, we'll give you advance notice, and the new price applies to your next billing period after the notice. Continuing to use a paid plan after a price change means you accept the new price; if you don't, you can cancel before it takes effect.

Taxes

Prices are exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise. You're responsible for any applicable sales, use, or VAT taxes, which we may add to your charge where required.

5. Refunds

Every new account gets a 14-day free trial in which you can evaluate every paid feature before paying anything. Because of that trial, subscription fees that have already been charged are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law.

If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA, or the UK, the statutory right of withdrawal in section 5a is one of those cases, and it takes precedence over this section.

5a. EU, EEA, and UK consumers: right of withdrawal

This section applies if you live in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom and you are buying as a consumer – that is, mainly outside your trade, business, craft, or profession. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.

Your right to withdraw

You have 14 days to withdraw from a paid Sortbase subscription, without giving any reason and without penalty. The 14 days run from the day your paid subscription begins – for a subscription that starts with a free trial, that is the day of your first charge, not the day you signed up. You pay nothing during the free trial, so there is nothing to withdraw from until then; during the trial you can simply cancel as described in section 4.

How to withdraw

Tell us before the 14 days are up, in a statement that clearly says you are withdrawing. Email support@sortbase.ai from your account email address, or write to us at the postal address in section 16. You may use the standard model withdrawal form if you prefer, but you do not have to – any unambiguous statement is enough. Sending your notice before the deadline is enough; it does not have to reach us before the 14 days end.

What we do when you withdraw

We refund what you paid for that subscription in full, within 14 days of the day we receive your notice, using the same payment method you paid with. You are not charged a fee for the refund, and we do not deduct a proportionate amount for the days you had access.

The narrow case where this right can be lost

Article 16 of EU Directive 2011/83/EU and regulation 37 of the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 allow the right of withdrawal to be lost for a service that has been fully performed, or for digital content supplied other than on a physical medium, but only where you gave your prior express consent for us to begin during the withdrawal period and acknowledged at that moment that you would lose the right by doing so. We do not ask you for that consent or that acknowledgment, so this exception does not apply to your subscription and the full 14-day right of withdrawal above stands. If we ever start asking for it, we will ask clearly at the point of purchase and update these Terms first.

6. Acceptable use

When you use Sortbase, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service in violation of any law, or in violation of the terms of any AI platform it integrates with (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok).
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except to the limited extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service without our written permission.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, our infrastructure, or our providers – including probing, overloading, or circumventing rate limits or access controls.
  • Use the Service to store or transmit malware, or to infringe anyone else's intellectual-property or privacy rights.
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate Sortbase LLC.
  • Create multiple accounts to obtain repeated free trials, or otherwise evade the one-free-trial-per-person limit.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these rules, or that creates risk or legal exposure for us or other users.

7. Your content

The chats, folders, prompts, and other material you create or save through Sortbase are yours (“Your Content”). We don't claim ownership of it. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you – for example, syncing your folders across your devices or forwarding a chat between models at your request. We do not use Your Content to train AI models. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for routine backups that age out on a normal cycle.

You're responsible for Your Content and for having the right to use it with Sortbase.

8. Third-party platforms and services

Sortbase works on top of third-party AI platforms and relies on third-party providers (such as Stripe for payments and Supabase for hosting). Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms, and you're responsible for complying with them. We don't control those platforms: they can change, restrict, or remove features, interfaces, or APIs at any time, which may affect how – or whether – parts of Sortbase work. We're not responsible for the acts, omissions, content, or availability of third-party platforms.

9. Our intellectual property

The Service itself – the extension software, the Sortbase website, our name, logo, and branding – belongs to Sortbase LLCand is protected by intellectual-property law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Service while these Terms are in effect. These Terms don't transfer any of our intellectual-property rights to you.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that it will keep working with every AI platform, or that any data will never be lost. You use the Service at your own discretion and risk.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sortbase LLCand its founders will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service – even if we've been advised such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) US $100. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sortbase LLC and its founders from any claims, damages, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Termination

You can stop using Sortbase and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. When your account ends, your right to use the Service stops; you can request deletion of your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination – ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law – survive.

14. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We're actively building Sortbase, so the Service will change over time, and we may add, modify, or remove features. We may also update these Terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the version number and effective date at the top of this page and give reasonable notice (for example, an in-app banner or email). Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing anything, please email us at support@sortbase.ai so we can try to resolve the issue directly – most things can be sorted out that way. If we can't, you and Sortbase LLC agree that the state and federal courts located in Travis County, Texas have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to venue there.
